5 Reasons I’ll Choose the Galaxy S26 Ultra Over the iPhone 18 Pro Max

vThe Galaxy S26 Ultra and iPhone 18 Pro Max represent two different approaches to the premium smartphone market. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra is already an official product, while Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Max has not yet been officially announced. That means any comparison with the iPhone 18 Pro Max must be based on information that is actually confirmed, not on unverified leaks or guesses.

For someone choosing a phone based on features that are available today, there are several clear reasons the Galaxy S26 Ultra would be my personal pick.

1. The Galaxy S26 Ultra Has a Powerful Camera Setup

The camera system is one of the biggest reasons to choose the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Samsung has equipped the phone with a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP telephoto camera. The telephoto camera offers 5x optical zoom and up to 10x optical-quality zoom. Samsung also highlights improved low-light performance through the wider aperture and its updated Nightography features.

This setup gives the Galaxy S26 Ultra a lot of flexibility. A user can take wide landscape shots, detailed regular photos and zoomed-in pictures without depending only on digital zoom.

Apple has not officially announced the iPhone 18 Pro Max yet, so its final camera hardware cannot be treated as confirmed. The current iPhone 17 Pro Max already has three 48MP Fusion cameras and an 8x optical-quality zoom option, showing that Apple is also putting a strong focus on camera performance.

Still, if I am choosing based on confirmed hardware today, Samsung’s camera system gives me a clear set of features that I can actually use.

2. The S Pen Gives Samsung Something the iPhone Does Not

The built-in S Pen is another major reason I would choose the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Samsung includes S Pen support specifically with the Ultra model, turning the phone into more than a device for calls, photos and social media.

The stylus can be useful for taking notes, making quick edits, drawing, signing documents and working with small items on the screen. It is especially useful for people who regularly write or edit things directly on their phone.

There is currently no confirmed information showing that the iPhone 18 Pro Max will offer a built-in stylus system comparable to the S Pen. Because Apple’s next Pro Max model has not been officially announced, it would be wrong to claim that Apple will or will not add such a feature.

For my own daily use, however, having a pen stored inside the phone would be a meaningful advantage.

3. Samsung Offers a 6.9-Inch QHD+ Display

The Galaxy S26 Ultra has a 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Samsung also lists Vision Booster technology for the screen.

That combination matters if I spend a lot of time watching videos, reading, browsing the web or editing photos. The large screen gives plenty of room for content, while the high refresh rate helps supported animations and scrolling look smoother.

Apple has not yet published the official display specifications for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Reports may suggest a screen size or other details, but those reports should not be treated as final specifications until Apple confirms them.

So, for a comparison based on confirmed information, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s display is already a known quantity.

4. Fast 60W Charging Is a Big Convenience

Charging speed is another area where the Galaxy S26 Ultra stands out for me. Samsung says its Super Fast Charging 3.0 system raises charging power from 45W to 60W and can take the phone to about 75% in around 30 minutes under the company’s stated conditions.

That can make a real difference during a busy day. If the battery is running low, a short charging session can add a large amount of power without requiring the phone to remain connected for a long time.

The exact charging specifications for the iPhone 18 Pro Max have not been officially announced. Apple’s current iPhone 17 Pro Max focuses heavily on battery life, with Apple claiming up to 37 hours of video playback, but that is a different measure from charging speed.

For my personal priorities, I would rather have a phone that can quickly recover a large amount of battery when I need it.

5. The Galaxy S26 Ultra Offers Up to 1TB of Storage

Storage is easy to overlook when buying a phone, but it becomes important if you keep lots of photos, videos, games and large files on the device.

Samsung offers the Galaxy S26 Ultra in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage versions. The 1TB model also comes with 16GB of memory, while the 256GB and 512GB versions have 12GB of memory.

This is an important distinction because the iPhone 18 Pro Max is still an unreleased product. Its final storage choices, cameras, charging system and other hardware should not be presented as facts until Apple announces them.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra Would Be My Choice Based on Confirmed Features

My choice would come down to how I use a phone. The Galaxy S26 Ultra combines a high-resolution camera system, a built-in S Pen, a large QHD+ display, faster wired charging and up to 1TB of storage. These are practical features that can affect everyday use rather than simply adding bigger numbers to a specification sheet.

That does not mean the iPhone 18 Pro Max will be a weaker phone. Apple has not officially revealed that model yet, so there is not enough confirmed information to make a complete hardware comparison.

For now, if I had to choose between the Galaxy S26 Ultra and an iPhone 18 Pro Max based only on features that have been officially confirmed, I would choose Samsung. The Galaxy S26 Ultra already offers a combination of camera flexibility, S Pen support, display quality, charging speed and storage that fits the way I would want to use a flagship phone.
